About The Service

The Adult Safeguarding Team is positioned in the Adult Services, Housing and Communities directorate and has responsibility for delivery of the local authority's duties to Safeguard Adults at Risk under Part 7 of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.


With Safeguarding being 'Everybody's business' the Adult Safeguarding Team works in partnership with Police, Health and other agencies and teams to effectively Safeguard citizens of Cardiff and support people to live their lives free of abuse or neglect or the risk of it.

We maintain a person-centred focus and keep the individual at the heart of our business promoting co-production and best practice in this area.

About the job


This is a Grade 5 Adult Safeguarding Support Officer post (37 hours per week), available in the Adult Safeguarding team within Cardiff Council's Adult Services, Housing and Communities directorate.

  • A commitment to the Safeguarding of the citizens of Cardiff.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to the lives of people with a care and support need.
  • An understanding of the importance of equality and inclusiveness in a persons wellbeing.
  • A strong value base and commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of an individual who may be experiencing or at risk of experiencing abuse or neglect.
  • A commitment to multiagency and partnership working with professionals and adults at risk alike.
  • An understanding of the importance of working to procedural guidelines and of accuracy and productivity to achieve outcomes for the citizens of Cardiff.
  • A willingness to learn and develop your own knowledge and practice and to engage in a supportive learning environment.
  • An awareness of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014 and the role of Safeguarding as an underpinning principal.
  • The ability to work under pressure and prioritise work when situations arise that require immediate attention.
