Role summary


Funders In Good provides tailored financial and strategic support to social ventures serving Islam and Muslims in the UK to enhance their systems, scale, sustainability, and service offering, ultimately increasing their long-term impact.

A venture is any person or group of people who are serving a social purpose including charities, community initiatives, not-for-profit companies, and social enterprises.

We back ventures and leaders who are contributing to our vision of society in which commitment to God is flourishing.


The 'Social Venture Academy' is a new six-month cohort-based programme of workshops, 1:1 support and mentoring for small/early-stage venture leaders who are responding to the needs of Islam and Muslims their communities and across the UK.

The programme is designed to empower venture leaders with knowledge in key venture development areas to increase the quality and scale of their impact.

The school will culminate in a pitch day where successful ventures will be selected for grants and graduation into Funders In Good's venture portfolio.


As the programme lead, your role will be to deliver a high-quality end-to-end experience for our first cohort of leaders and expert contributors in 2024 and identify enhancements to the programme for future cohorts.

You will do this by building strong relationships with leaders and expert contributors, and handling logistics effectively.


Key responsibilities
We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and confident programme lead who is committed to our vision.

The individual will bring valuable new skills and experience which will support Funders In Good in delivering on its vision and mission.


  • Ensure the accelerator programme runs smoothly, including scheduling/planning, booking speakers and venues, designing and delivering programme communications, maintaining documentation, obtaining feedback from participants etc.
  • Provide ongoing support to all venture leaders including programme guidance, pastoral support and knowledge development.
  • Design and deliver activities which build a sense of community amongst the cohort and contributors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with organisations and people who will deliver the programme, including mentors, workshop facilitators, speakers, and other partners.
  • Ensure the programme stays relevant and up to date, and adapts in response to feedback from ventures, delivery partners and others.
  • Lead the organisation and delivery of events as part of the programme (e.g. launch event, pitch day).
  • Keep in touch with programme alumni (previous ventures)
  • Work closely with the marketing partner to support the effective communication of the programme.
  • Manage and input into the venture selection process.
  • Create reports to support the investment panel to select ventures for grants and further support.
  • Write interim and postprogramme reviews through reports to the board.
  • Manage other programme team members and volunteers working on the programme.

Person Specification


Essential

  • A strong commitment to and personal desire to realise Funders In Good's vision.
  • Able to build productive, trustbased relationships with venture leaders.
  • Strong relationship building and management skills.
  • Experience working with charities or social initiatives.
  • Highly analytical and numerate, with good command of Excel.
  • Experience of working within a leadership team.
  • Able to identify key insights from a range of data outputs and translate into clear communication, including PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to work independently, with tenacity and on own initiative.
  • Strong planning and time management, able to balance between priorities.
  • Growth mindset; seeks out and acts on feedback.
  • A commitment to always work with high integrity.
  • A strong interest in empowerment and building capacity within ventures and leaders.
  • Strong project management skills and trackrecord of executing projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering cohortbased development programmes.
  • Experience in consulting, grantmaking or other capacity building work.
  • Experience of the charity and social sector in the UK.
  • Experience in charity impact management and/or evaluation.
  • Experience in event management.
