Description

To assist in the provision of a psychological service to clients within the specialty under the direction of the supervising clinical psychologist.


To be responsible for the planning and prioritisation of own workload and activities following the direction and guidelines given by the supervising clinical psychologist.

To undertake assessments of clients and implement programmes of care or intervention following guidance from the supervising clinical psychologist.

To undertake research activities as required and directed by the supervising clinical psychologist.

To work within guidelines given by the supervising clinical psychologist.

  • To undertake protocol based psychological assessment of clients through formal psychometric testing, direct and indirect observations and semistructured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
  • To carry out assessments and interventions as directed by the supervising clinical psychologist at a number of sites including inpatient or assessment units, day centres, outpatient clinics and the client's own home.
  • To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups as appropriate and under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
  • To be a member of the appropriate multidisciplinary team providing services to the client group, under the guidance of the supervising clinical psychologist.
  • To communicate sensitive condition related information to clients, their relatives and other professionals as directed by the supervising clinical psychologist. The context for this may be outpatient settings, inpatient or assessment units or the client's own home.
  • To implement programmes of care or intervention as directed by the supervising clinical psychologist.
  • To be responsible for the planning and prioritisation of own workload and activities following the direction and guidelines given by thesupervising clinical psychologist.
  • To maintain and update client records in accordance with Health Board and professional guidelines
