Description

The Rock Project are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Apprentice to help with the support of the music sessions for young people across Devon.

A teaching assistant has many important duties and responsibilities.

These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Unloading the van of all necessary equipment and placing it in appropriate space in the venue.
  • Setting up musical equipment e.g. drums, speakers, amps, musical stands and microphones so they are ready to be used as well as chairs where relevant or necessary.
  • Assisting the tutors in preparing any lesson material.
  • Helping tutors manage student behaviour.
  • Ensuring pupils stay focused during sessions.
  • Working on a one to one basis or with small groups to enhance their learning experience.
  • Reporting a pupil's progress to the tutor.
  • Leading any warm up sessions as required.
  • Looking after children who are unwell.
  • Providing a healthy and safe learning environment for children.
  • Helping to pack away equipment at the end of the sessions and return all equipment safely to the van.
  • Ensuring the venue is left as clean and tidy as it was on arrival.
Hours: 25.00 per week

Progression into employment if applicable. This apprenticeship forms a good foundation for working within a TA setting.


Training Provided:


One day a month attendance to Exeter College, with the support of a skills officer into the workplace every 8 weeks.


Additional Information:


We would be particularly interested in someone with a passion for music or media as we are doing some great work in schools running a community radio and podcast station for a Plymouth based Primary School.

Maths and English grades 4 or above or equivalent.
