Description

To support & drive the strategic development of the General Liability (GL) portfolio by building a profitable, sustainable book of wholesale and retail business across both existing London Market/Lloyd's platforms.

Job Responsibilities and Competence

  • Contribute to business plans and the longer term strategy for ongoing success in the GL segment, on both Lloyd's Syndicate and Insurance Company platforms
  • Work with GL leader and Actuaries to enhance existing pricing models and build models where they do not exist to meet London market & Regional requirements
  • Produce and develop new business through distribution lines in the London Market and broker networks within the International market, to agreed targets
  • Ensure successful and profitable retention of the existing portfolio, including facilities & binding authority agreements
  • Review opportunities to build out a new strategic direction for UK domiciled business as it relates to GL
  • Development and execution of the marketing strategy and marketing material for GL & Product recall; including travel and marketing of The Hartford brand within new and existing territories
  • Ensure group standards for risk analysis, risk selection, technical pricing and renewal rate monitoring are met at all times
  • Ensure compliance with The Hartford best practice and any local regulations at all times with particular focus on referral guidelines and response, underwriting guidelines, authorities, peer review and audit
  • Contribute, as required, to the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of Underwriting results
Experience

  • Sufficient underwriting experience within the EIL arena
  • Broad knowledge of all classes of business written within the Hartford Group
  • Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of Insurance and related issues through form and informal learning
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload
  • Attention to detail
  • Team player with ability to work on a standalone basis
  • Flexible
  • Good communication skills
