The Team


The Governance and Compliance Team is a vibrant and diverse team of professionals providing a range of key functions and support for the University in the areas of Governance, Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Information Governance, Student Casework and Legal.


The Role


In recognition of the importance and complexity of the external regulatory environment, we are seeking to appoint a Head of Governance and Compliance.

This role, which will report to the University Secretary and Registrar, will be responsible for and provide strategic direction to the development of the University's governance and compliance framework.


You will focus upon the provision of leadership and accountability for governance, audit and compliance across the institution and play a significant role in the ongoing development and enhancement of structures and systems to support these processes.

Your considerable knowledge of higher education governance within the UK and experience of managing a service delivery operation, will enable you to engage and provide advice to stakeholders within the institution and externally, including the Chair of the Board of Governors, Vice Chancellor, University Secretary and Registrar, and members of the Executive Board (amongst others).

You will also be instrumental in supporting the management of the University's relationship with the Office for Students.

With line management responsibility for a small team of professionals, you will ensure that the University's governance supports compliance, reduces administrative burden and is aligned with modern governance best practice.


This role offers you the opportunity to play a significant part in the progression of an experienced department and act as the lead for governance and compliance related University matters.
