Senior Training and Knowhow Coordinator

The Brief:


To principally provide support to our Pension Practice Development Lawyers (PDLs) on knowledge and practice developments in addition to providing support to the client relationship teams and sector and client initiatives across the firm-wide network.


About the Team:


Pinsent Masons LLP has one of the largest pensions law teams in the UK and advises clients on all non-contentious and contentious pensions law issues.

Our pensions team includes 19 partners and around 40 other lawyers, based in our offices across the UK.

As well as day to day advice to pension schemes of all shapes and sizes, the team's work includes:

- risk transfer, where we advise trustees, employers and insurance companies on risk transfer transactions
- advising pension businesses, including pension providers, administrators and DB and DC master trusts
- investment work, working alongside our funds and sustainable finance teams
- transaction support, both public and private sector and including corporate restructurings litigation, covering professional negligence, rectification, representative beneficiary and Pensions Ombudsman matters and regulatory investigations.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Knowledge Management & Training: _
  • To collate and upload knowhow, training materials, precedents, templates and agreements into a knowledge management system.
  • To assist with the tracking of legislation, including monitoring public and private bills.
  • To support knowledge transfer and training, assisting with the preparation of updates, training materials and research briefings.
  • To provide administrative assistance to our PDLs to facilitate the delivery and development of training programmes and training/knowhow requirements for new starters, including trainees.
  • To manage memberships of professional bodies.
  • To assist with the administration of attendance at external courses and harvesting of knowledge.
  • To liaise with fee earners to collect knowhow and maintain internal knowledge management systems.
  • To assist with the development and maintenance of new and current team and sector intranet pages, databases and platforms.
  • To assist with research and the monitoring and tracking of legal, policy and industry developments that support the delivery of practice team, sector and client initiatives.
  • Practice Team, Sector and Client: _
  • To assist with the preparation and delivery of regular legal and industry updates and publications, with responsibility for collating team submissions for monthly sector and client newsletters, formatting the newsletters as appropriate and circulating within a specified deadline.
  • To conduct horizon watching, monitoring, tracking and reporting on regulatory, policy and industry developments.
  • To support the PDLs on the development and maintenance of sector and client initiatives and assisting sector and client relationship teams.
  • To support the preparation of regular Out-Law articles, practice team, sector and client briefings.
  • To support the delivery of bespoke client training programmes and general client updates and introductions to new areas of law and policy.
  • To support business development and thought leadership campaigns connected to the team, sectors and clients.
  • To support the PDLs with research projects and papers.
  • To summarise (and monitor) updates on procedure and legislative changes within the industry in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To assist with the preparation of internal training materials.
  • To assist fee earners in locating internal and external knowhow.
  • Attending team meetings to assist with promoting and demonstrating new knowhow systems, and encouraging team attendance at events/webinars
  • To provide general assistance with ad hoc and regular tasks.
  • To assist the PDLs with managing the team's training budget and book budget

About the Person


The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent organisational skills with acute attention to detail.

Good IT skills are required (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel).
