Description
As a safety manager you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards.

You will be traveling the UK to different sites meeting with different people, so must able to communicate at all levels and be able to engage people about health and safety.

You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.

  • Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to physical, and other work hazards.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Review plans and specifications for construction to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.
  • Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
  • Interview employers and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
  • Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct health inspection violations.
  • Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.
  • Conduct or direct testing to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to organizations on how to handle healthrelated problems and make needed changes.
  • Interpret safety regulations for others interested in safety such as safety engineers, labor representatives, and safety inspectors.
  • Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.
  • Write and revise safety regulations and codes.
  • Confer with medical professionals to assess health risks and to develop ways to manage health issues and concerns.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as safety manager
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
  • Valid qualification in occupational health and safety
  • Risk assessment/management
  • Administrative policies and procedures
  • EPC industry experience
  • Familiarity with project and department budget process and tools
  • Knowledge of project controls
  • Conceptual planning ability
  • Conflict management and problemsolving skills
  • Leadership ability
  • Multitasking ability
  • Communication, meeting, and presentation skills
  • Comfort with time reporting systems
  • Ability to effectively manage meetings, investigations, and group discussions.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills together with the ability to coach and lead others to achieve their safety goals.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and high confidentiality.
  • Ability to design and deliver training modules.
  • Patience and diplomacy and a collaborative approach.
  • Negotiating skills.
  • Excellent PC Skills.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum standard, diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 management systems is desirable.
This is a Junior position so help and support will be given along the way with the options to complete extra training with our in house programs In return you will be given a competitive salary with company car and benefits

£30,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
