Job Overview

Wooden & Steel Ship Repairs Ltd, Cowes and East Cowes, are looking for experienced Wooden Boatbuilders / Shipwrights to join our busy team.

This is a woodworking position only.

Work involves restoration and repair of wooden vessels, of all sizes, including laying timber decks onto steel vessels as well as bulwark capping rails and handrails in timber, also internal fitting out of steel vessels.

An eye for high-quality work is essential, as well as being able to work alongside a team of skilled shipwrights and other trades.

Part-time, full-time, self-employed, and payroll positions are available. Pay rates dependant on experience. Must be able to prove skills.

This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Measure and mark materials for assembly
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and follows safety protocols
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time
• Maintain a clean and organized work area

Experience:

• Previous experience in boat building essential
• Proficient in using power tools and hand tools
• Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of building techniques
• Ability to read plans and follow instructions accurately
• Excellent attention to detail and problemsolving skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
