Landau Forte Academy Tamworth Sixth Form & QEMS is a popular oversubscribed academy in Tamworth with a very large and expanding Sixth Form.

The academy was judged as GOOD by Ofsted in September 2022.

You will be supported in your career through our extensive CPD programme including the opportunity to complete nationally recognised qualifications.

We are looking for a versatile and outgoing individual to join the Academy as a site support team member.

The role will be full time and hours will be set on a rota basis as directed by the Site Manager between the core hours of 6am to 10pm.


The type of person we are looking for is likely to possess infectious enthusiasm, a reliable and highly organised individual, who can multi-task, with a professional and friendly disposition.

He or she will be resilient, driven, determined, and ambitious.

This post is based at Landau Forte Academy QEMS and Sixth Form and will report to the Academy Site Manager.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • Basic training in one or more of the following: plumbing, general and ground maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems.

Desirable

  • Good ICT skills including the use of Word and Excel software.
  • Recognised First Aid qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of minor maintenance (DIY or professional).

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a school or other site management role.
  • Undertaking responsibility for the care and maintenance of premises.
  • Experience of overseeing other works i.e. contractors, cleaners etc.
  • Experience of working in an office environment or similar.

Knowledge and skills:


Essential

  • Knowledge of basic health and safety skills.
  • Ability for some heavy lifting, physical fitness appropriate to tasks required.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the operation of heating, ventilating systems and common causes of malfunctions and energy efficiency measures.
  • Knowledge of schools and issues relating to education.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and security systems and procedures.
  • Driving licence and use of own car.

Duties for this job will include:

  • Maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities, to prevent any loss of learning time.
  • Performance and recording of routine maintenance and safety inspections
  • Minor alteration projects
  • Managing the works of external contractors
  • Clearing and setting up of rooms
  • Carrying out of maintenance tests
  • Closing and securing the Academy including activation and deactivation of alarms
  • Assisting with security issues
  • Supervision of and adhoc assistance to the cleaning staff, as required
