About you

  • As a Senior Commissioning Officer you will bring to the role:
  • Tenacity and a strong commitment to working in partnership to improve services.

  • An ability to multitask, organise and prioritise in a busy working environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills which will enable you to interpret a range of data and achieve value for money across our commissioned services.
  • An understanding of the Commissioning Cycle and care and support services for vulnerable people.
About the role

As our next Senior Commissioning Officer, you'll work on a range of commissioning and contract management functions across our key client group areas (which include learning disability, neurodiversity, mental health and physical and sensory impairment services) to ensure the delivery of high quality services which achieve value for money and positive outcomes.


The role is integral to our Working Age Adults (WAA) Commissioning Team who are collectively responsible for all aspects of the Commissioning Cycle including contract management, negotiating around value for money, small and large scale procurement activity, service reviews and developing new and innovative provision.

The team leads on programme and contract management of WAA services to maximise outcomes and to ensure value for money and quality.

JOB PURPOSE


To assist the Commissioning Programme Leaders / Heads of Commissioning by undertaking aspects of cross-directorate commissioning and contract management at Principal Officer level.

To be responsible for the management of a portfolio of work which contributes to the delivery of one or more of the following:

  • Service review, development and innovation
  • Commissioning activity that contributes to the Directorate's and Council's priorities. Commissioning takes many forms and includes negotiating individual care packages, large scale reviews and procurements and working with others to improve the service offer.
  • Development of strategy and policy relating to services for key client groups
  • Programme and contract management to maximise outcomes and to ensure value for money and quality.
