Key Accountabilities

  • This role predominantly involves assisting the laboratory management in the following processes:
  • overseeing staffing and processes during the designated shift. The primary aim is to ensure the shift functions efficiently, and testing is performed to the highest standard and in line with documented procedures.
- ensuring the staff are fully aware of the duties they need to perform and work in an efficient and meticulous manner.
- conduct training with staff as agreed with laboratory management and as required by the business. They will ensure effective recording and documentation of all training received.
- perform daily production meetings and proactively participate in TL and all other necessary operational or quality meetings
- assist in method validation projects when required
- feed into operational KPI reporting
- highlight process improvements with a focus on continual improvements
- assist in the generation of staff shift rotas to ensure production is managed across all departments/times and the required resources are available.
- perform routine testing to support the operations wherever required

  • Perform testing when required to support laboratory operations
  • Assist in the monitoring and collection of designated information to allow effective stock control of consumables and reagents and initiate purchase of replacement stocks in conjunction with Laboratory Managers.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Minimum of HND or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work to a consistently high and reproducible standard
  • Knowledge of microbiology
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and influence staff
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually.
  • Good planning and organising skills.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours
  • Reliability/good timekeeping
  • Good communication skills
Desirable

  • Previous experience in a commercial food microbiological testing laboratory
