Description

Mayen Estate is a small family-run estate, near Rothiemay in Banffshire and is home to Mr & Mrs A Cheyne and family.

The grounds feature lawns, over 300 acres of woodland, an arboretum, a mile of riverbanks, ponds, fruit trees, landscaped gardens, roads and paths in the Deveron Valley

We are seeking an Estate Gardener / Groundskeeper to work as part of our small and enthusiastic team to continue to develop and maintain the estate's stunning grounds and gardens.

Duties include:

Maintenance and development of holiday cottage gardens
Woodland management, including planting, felling, pruning, and wood chipping/ log cutting.
Maintenance and development of lawns, woodland gardens, shrub beds, meadows, arboretum and hedging.
Maintenance of riverbanks of the Mayen House Beat.
Maintenance and development of roads, paths, ditches, ponds and fencing.
Working alongside other Estate Workers on exciting development projects, including the replanting of biodiverse woodlands.
Maintenance of plant, equipment and tools

Desirable skills, experience and qualifications required:

Chainsaw cross cutting and tree felling and other power machinery certificates
Chemical and spraying certificates
An attention to detail, good housekeeping and timekeeping
Maintenance of plant, equipment, and tools

A passion for trees, regenerative woodland management and team working is essential.

Salary is competitive and based on experience

40 hours per week
