What's the Role?


As a nursery apprentice, you will be working across the school as a permanent additional member of staff, being deployed to cover lunches and to work in specific rooms in the mornings or in the afternoons, depending on when and where you shift falls.

20% of your working hours will need to be directed towards study, so there will be office based time for the equivalent of 1 day / week (8 hours total) in which you can assist with office work and undertake your study off the floor.

But we aim to provide you with as much exposure across all aspects of nursery life:

Baby Room- working with the deputy manager in charge of the baby (6 months to 24 months) unit to manage children under her care, focussing on safeguarding and early development and the delivery of heuristic play


Main Responsibilities
-
Nursery:

  • Monitoring & Observation:To help the nursery manager and team leaders use observation monitoring (our two cloud based observational software tools) to maintain accurate and well thought out observations of the children under their care

Planning:To work with the team to develop planning that reflects the individual needs of each child, going through the next steps for each child at the end of each day to ensure that their needs are reflected in the subsequent plans & activity schedules for the child

Execution:To work under the team leaders and senior team to execute / deliver the plans to an optimal standard, specific to the EYFS and Hatching Dragons bilingual model

Safeguarding: to ensure every child's well being and health is safeguarded at all times

Policy & Procedure: to read and undertake the full policy schedule of the setting

Support: Meal times / nappy changing and all support required by nursery staff

Administrative:

  • Enquiries: learning to track enquiries via the businesses CRM system and telephone and booking in times to visit as and where necessary and to keep in touch with parents to convert to sales:

  • HR & Recruitment:Learning the company's recruitment process to understand the required verification for staff, inputting staff information into nursery management system and learning to manage staff rotas to ensure business is compliant with ratio requirements set by Ofsted

Person Specification

  • Experience of working with children is desirable or wanting to pursue a career in childcare/teaching
  • Have enthusiasm and confidence.
  • Willing to learn about relevant polices/codes of practice/legislation
  • Ability to organise and motivate yourself and others
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Work constructively as part of a team, understanding nursery roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Caring, adaptable and have a good sense of humour
