Amazing Opportunity to train with a Grand Prix Dressage Rider and have your own horse on livery at your place of work and enjoy 2 lessons a week.

You will also be riding our livery horses.

Our Apprentice is part of our team and carries out the same role and has the same responsibilities as our grooms.

On the job learning at its best. You will spend time with our farrier, physio, dentist, saddler and vets. You will also have the opportunity to come to competitions. We have a lovely mix of horses and ponies, together with great, appreciative, liveries. The yard is beautiful and a relaxed and friendly place to be.

Our Head Girl has been with us for 17 years and our previous Apprentice (who gained distinctions in every module) is now a Groom with us.

A 4 or 5 day week is offered, both days at the weekend are required so that you get to know our liveries and learn about customer service.

Duties include:

Routine yard and field duties, mucking out, poopicking, watering, feeding, tidying, cleaning.
Handling horses: turning out and bringing in from the fields, taking on and off the horse walker, washing off, grooming, tacking up.
Handling tack and equipment, rugging up, cleaning tack.
Assisting, as required, during sports science specialists' visits eg vet, farrier, physio & dentist.
Assisting with competition preparation and travelling.
Occasional competition and training groom.
Option to hack (depending on ability).

Qualifications:

Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Horse Care to be eligible for a level 2 apprenticeship

Groom at competitions.
Head of yard.

Training:

Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Thing to Consider:

KEITS Training Services Ltd reserves the right to close the vacancy earlier than the listed closing date should the need arise.
The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
Own horse welcome, on 5 day livery fee.
No accommodation for apprentice available.
