  • 7am to 4pm Monday to Thursday
  • 7am to 1pm Friday

Overview


The role of the Press Operator is to interpret CAD drawings/specifications and customer information, input information accurately into the Pressbrake to ensure the successful folding of sheet metal, safely, within checking procedures, tolerance and agreed company measures.


Understanding and completing paperwork accurately alongside palletising units in a way to assist the next stage of production is a key measure when assessing the effectiveness of the press operator.


Duties/Responsibilities:


  • On acceptance of a job to the machine, ensure previous stage checks are complete.
  • Read, and understand CAD drawings/specifications and customer information.
  • Interpret drawings to be able to correctly input CNC programmes.
  • Accurately input CNC programmes and set up tooling as instructed on the drawings to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
  • Maintain and inspect all tooling.
  • Operate the Press to fold/bend sheet metal panels using bend allowances.
  • Check and inspect the folded component to the CAD drawing specifications using quality standards and inspection procedures, and the process to follow if errors are found or products should not comply.
  • Ensure parts are clearly referenced and burrs are removed.
  • Ensure stock use is accurately recorded where applicable.
  • Accurately and legibly complete all necessary paperwork.
  • All items produced must be done so with the next stage in mind to ensure process efficiency.
  • Pass all completed products to the next stage of manufacturing or store in designated area as per Company Health and Safety standards.
  • Always keep the machine and work area tidy.
  • Carry out maintenance checks as per company procedures.
  • Follow all Company rules and policies.
  • Support fellow colleagues to maximise productivity/efficiency and maintain the factory environment.
  • Complete tasks as directed by Team Leaders / Factory Foreman or Management.

  • Abide by company health, safety and environmental policies.
  • Report any issues to team leader, foreman and/or management.
  • Always Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly, on the Factory Floor.
  • Ensure a Safe Working environment is always maintained.
  • Work alongside and under the direction of (QHSE) team.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Must have read and understood appropriate Process Control Document and signed off by a machine trainer as competent to operate the machine.
  • It is desirable to have a forklift license within this role; however, it is not essential.
  • Must be at a level to achieve all tasks safely without supervision.

Learning and Development

  • Attend Toolbox talks as and when required.
  • Ensure you are fully trained and competent in all aspects of the role.
  • Continual selfdevelopment is required to enable flexibility within the factory production area.
