The Technical Sourcing team
:

Within Amici, the Technical Sourcing team works closely with customers to support them with their purchasing requirements. Customers use our MyAmici platform to find items they need for their labs to run smoothly.

If a specific item cannot be identified via the platform, customers contact our Technical Sourcing team to source the product for them.

The team's scope covers a broad spectrum of products that customers may need, from biologicals (e.g. cells, antibodies, oligos) and chemicals (compounds, solvents etc.) to consumables (PPE, pipette tips, microtitre plates) and office supplies. We do whatever it takes to get a successful result for the customer in a timely manner.


As part of the Technical Sourcing team, our mission is to genuinely partner with customers, providing them with procurement services for their laboratory products.

We take the stress of their sourcing and procurement to allow them to focus on making life-changing scientific discoveries. The Technical Sourcing team has grown significantly over the past year and is continuing to expand.


About the role
:

This is a permanent and full-time role.

This role is Hybrid, working 2 days a week in our Glasgow office (Wednesday, Thursday) and 3 days a week from home (Monday, Tuesday, Friday).

For the first 2 weeks of employment, the role will be full time in the Amici office for training and onboarding.


What will you be doing?:


  • Managing adhoc requests from customers for their laboratory products. This includes understanding the customer's requirements, identifying required specifications for the product, and then reviewing purchasing options with the customer.
  • Researching the market to ensure options are found which meet customer expectations and negotiating pricing. The Assistant Buyers speak directly with suppliers and negotiate the best possible price for our customers. The Technical Sourcing Team also works closely with other teams that solely focus on Supplier relationships.
  • You'll be responsible for ensuring product information hosted on our purchasing platform is accurate and for managing and negotiating pricing updates as necessary. The hygiene of the MyAmici platform is crucial so that our customers always have the most uptodate price.
  • You will demonstrate effective communication skills with the ability to influence suppliers and customers.

What are we looking for?:


  • Degree in life sciences (or experience equivalent).
  • Experience working in a customer facing role would be advantageous.
  • Skilled in influencing, communicating effectively and persuasively to a range of audiences.
  • A curious person who is able to ask probing questions and work collaboratively to solve problems.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Enjoys working within a fastpaced environment, has a 'can do' attitude, with the ability to 'flex' and perform as a strong team player.
  • Willing to work flexible hours supporting our customers in the USA as required.


This is a very exciting opportunity for a recent life-science graduate with an interest in business or someone early in their life-science/biotech career who wants to move out of the lab.
