This role is full time, on a rota basis working a mix of mornings shifts pm) and afternoon shifts pm).

Job Overview:


The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for helping the Cook to provide nutritious meals under hygienic conditions and to ensure compliance at all times with current food hygiene and safety laws and regulations.


Responsibilities:


  • All staff must ensure that they comply fully with Company Infection Control Policies in addition to following local guidelines on Infection Control and Prevention.
  • To assist the Cook as required in the cooking of meals.
  • The preparation and cooking of cakes/pastries for afternoon tea.
  • The preparation/cooking of a onecourse supper dish if required to do so.
  • To assist the cook with the correct storage of newly delivered foodstuffs as required.
  • To be responsible for the clearing of tables, washing up after meals, cleaning up the kitchen surfaces, pots, pans, utensils and any of the equipment used for the purposes of cooking, the overall cleaning of the kitchen and, where appropriate, the dining area.
  • To maintain health and safety regulations as required by statutory requirements in the kitchen area including the clearance of food waste.
  • To help to maintain documented records as required by the Health & Safety Officer and the Food Standards Agency.
  • To draw to the attention of the Cook or Care Manager any potential hazards in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • To have full knowledge of the Homes fire, safety and health regulations and comply with them at all times.
  • To attend staff meetings and training sessions when appropriate.
  • To maintain tidy and clean kitchen storage cupboards and cleanliness and order of dry goods store.
  • To undertake such other duties within the general cook responsibilities which may be reasonably required from time to time by the Cook, Care Manager or Team Leader/Senior.
  • Answering telephone, taking and recording and transmitting messages as per the company policy and prompt cards.
  • Actively speak positively, promote and 'sell' the Home at all times to visitors, relatives and prospective clients.
  • Be trained in the Company Customer Service training program and adhere to its operating norms.

Pay:
£11.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

  • Kitchen experience: 1 year (preferred)
