Solicitor Abuse

Job Purpose
Keoghs Scotland are seeking to recruit a 3-5 PQE solicitor to join our expanding abuse team in Glasgow. You will handle a varied caseload of pre-litigated and litigated abuse cases (Defender) for both insurer and uninsured clients.

It is preferable thatapplicants will have experience of appearing in the Sheriff court and as instructing agent in the Court of Session.

It is also preferable that applicants will have experience in sensitive and complex claims.

Key Accountabilities

Forensic review and analysis of relevant documents.
Analysis of liability.
Analysis of quantum and causation.
Assisting in drafting advice.
Client liaison and site visits.
Reviewing files to assess litigation strategy/ direction.
Drafting court documents and correspondence to clients/witnesses.
Preparing witness statements and instructions to experts and counsel.
Assisting Partners and other members of the team where required.
Assisting in business development initiatives, including drafting of articles, blog pieces, eshots and presentations and attendance at relevant events.

Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location for this role is the Glasgow Office although we operate flexible working.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills and Attributes:

Litigation experience between 35 years.
Team player.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent forensic skills.
Ability to prioritise tasks and to work under pressure.
Excellent organisational skills.
Previous experience of sensitive and complex claims is preferable.
Previous experience of time recording is preferable.
The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
