Job Title:
Cleaner


Salary Scale:
£10 per hour


Hours of Work:10 hours per week Monday to Friday 7am-9am

Hours may vary based on the needs of the centre


Responsible To:
Hub Manager


Based at:
Ladybarn Community Hub, Royle st, Manchester M14 6RN


Main Purpose:


To carry out and manage the cleaning of the building, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and to work within health & safety regulations.


Main Contacts:

Ladybarn staff and Board members


Duties:


  • Proactively ensure that the Hub is cleaned to a high standard and facilities are fit for purpose and safe for all staff, visitors & service users.
  • Cleaning of designated areas as dictated by the Hub Manager to ensure that they are kept in a hygienic condition.
  • Emptying of waste bins or similar receptacles daily, and transport of waste material to designated collection points.
  • Carry out regular stock audits to ensure adequate cleaning materials & consumables are always in place.
  • Complete and maintain working task records and checklists.
  • Liaise with staff & caretaker to ensure that the building is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Maintain open communication with the Hub Manager & caretaker to ensure any health & safety concerns are dealt with promptly.
  • Be a keyholder to open and close the building as needed.
  • Potholder to undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the post

  • To identify and attend relevant training for self and staff as required
  • To work in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies & procedures
  • To undergo regular supervision and annual appraisal
  • Undergo a standard DBS check

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Applicants are required to demonstrate all essential criteria.

Essential Criteria:


  • Experience of working as a cleaner in a similar workplace or setting
  • Experience of successful working practices in cleaning
  • Experience of using general cleaning equipment, e.g. vacuums and carpet cleaners
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Selfmotivated & ability to carry out work activities with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to use your own initiative to identify and carry out work activities reliably
  • Experience in basic administrative duties, including record keeping
  • Awareness of health and safety issues related to cleaning equipment and products awareness of COSHH regulations.
  • An understanding of customer care in the workplace
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people from a variety of backgrounds
  • A good understanding of fire safety and health and safety issues within the workplace
  • Commitment to equality of opportunity and valuing diversity
  • Willing to undergo a standard DBS check
  • Willing and able to work outside normal office hours
