Costain is looking to strengthen its team in the North West with the appointment of an experienced
Senior Project Managerto work on our
United Utilities MSP Framework.


About the Project
United Utilities have awarded Costain a Managed Service Provider (MSP) framework contract. Under the contract Costain provide the overall management and delivery of United Utilities' larger-scale water and wastewater asset maintenance activities across the entirety of its network, including 96 water treatment and 575 wastewater treatment sites, which serves over six million people in the Northwest of England


About the Role

The Senior Project Manager will work closely with a wide range of Senior United Utilities stakeholders, being the focal point for representing the MSP team on all Wastewater, Bioresource & Energy related matters.

The role has full accountability for the lifecycle delivery of the service for the UU Bio & Energy customer and leads in understanding client needs, emerging requirements, challenges and in shaping a suitable response/approach from the MSP team.


The day-day location of the role can be flexible to meet the needs of the team and client, but with an expectation that there will be presence in the Manchester or UU Warrington office a minimum of 3 days per week to ensure engagement with the MSP team and UU client stakeholders.


About you
Strong technical experience within the water sector and the lifecycle delivery of projects in Wastewater, Bioresources and Energy
High level experience working in a Framework environment
Strong understanding of wastewater assets
Technical knowledge on DSEAR/ATEX and Process Safety, knowledge of working on/with high-risk sites and hazardous areas in Wastewater, Bioresources and Energy processes
Essential experience in Planning, Design, Construction, Commissioning across a variety of work-types; small and large projects/programmes of work, statutory inspections and remedials and ability to manage emergency works
Experience of United Utilities related projects/programmes/frameworks (preferred)
Experience in decommissioning and demolition would be beneficial
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills


Qualifications and Training
HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline
Hold Chartered Status such as ChPP or similar
SMSTS qualification/NEC PM accreditation (preferred)
Association of Project Management APMP (preferred)
