An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead Writhlington School's experienced Social Sciences department.

  • Have the necessary qualities to lead the team in successfully delivering and adapting an engaging and rigorous curriculum
  • Be able to develop, plan and deliver high quality and engaging learning experiences for all students in Psychology, Criminology and Sociology lessons and support colleagues in doing the same.
Are you an inspirational, dedicated leader in and out of the classroom, with a track record of raising student attainment? Do you understand and are able to effectively articulate the criteria for the delivery of outstanding lessons and support colleagues to do the same? Do you have a proven record of tracking individual pupil progress and making effective use of structured feedback? Are you committed to working collaboratively and reflectively with your colleagues in developing an engrossing, scaffolded and thoughtfully sequenced Social Sciences curriculum? Are you an intuitive, engaging and adaptable classroom practitioner who sets and keeps high expectations?


If so, you could be the right person to lead our dedicated, high achieving and forward thinking Social Sciences department.

The department is committed to collaborative working, shared planning and has a strong team based ethos in which staff support one another and share their expertise.


Writhlington School is part of the Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership and located on a large modern campus that benefits from exceptional media facilities, a 400-seat theatre and a Community Sports Centre.

The school is committed to supporting staff in their professional development and working collaboratively to drive towards the goal of consistently refining pedagogy and practice with a pupil centred mindset.
