  • This role will be Swindon based. However, there is an option for hybrid or remote option. _

Thames Water requires, a SAP Solution Architect, within the Digital Data Intelligence (platform services) team.
The role is accountable for the availability and currency of the SAP Data Platform i.e.
SAP Data Services - ETL tool providing a single solution for Data Integration, Transformation, Data Quality and Data Profiling.

Provide leadership to the SAP developer team, focused on improving the performance, productivity and efficiency of the team by instilling and driving a continuous improvement mindset and enabling the best (and simplest) possible data and information experiencefor customers and end users.

The role is also accountable for ensuring all aspects of change requests and environment transports are legitimate and in no way compromise the day-to-day operation of the platforms.

What you will be doing:


  • Accountable for the availability and precision of the SAP Data Platform across all environments.
  • Accountable for ensuring the currency of all SAP support packs, product updates and system refreshes and certificates.
  • System administration/capacity accountabilities across all environments in the technology stack to ensure projects deploying new data assets onto warehouse do not impact BAU operations
  • Supporting the Platform services BI architect with the development of architectural standards and guidelines
  • Lead by example and support the development of the team to be more commercially aware
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviours across the team; manage and motivate employees to deliver high performance results
  • Ensure the team's resources and workloads are being effectively utilised, delivering within agreed timescales
  • Working closely with developers, business specialists and support teams to ensure developments on the platform run to task.

What you should bring to this role:

  • Experienced in building, integrating or managing at least one significant SAP data/reporting platform implementation with a deep understanding of how the solution was put together (e.g. data transfers, integrations, automation, QA).
  • Experience of designing/authenticating; Composite Providers, Operational Data Stores, DSO's and Info Objects.
  • Able to join and align technical understanding with an appreciation of customer experience wants and needs.
  • Experience of building effective relationships with all levels of the business including senior stakeholders
  • An understanding of change governance lifecycle and the prerequisites that accompany it.
  • Experience of continuous delivery and experience in delivering in cross functional teams
  • A pragmatic approach to Risk Management.
