About The Role

We have a vacancy for an experienced Waste Operations Manager to join our team based in Gaydon and Whitley
Reporting to the Account Director, you'll provide waste management and co-ordination to our client contract, including delivering contract standards to the operations and delivering initiatives that work towards their zero-landfill target and environmentaltargets

You'll need to have extensive experience in waste management operations and current waste practises and current membership to Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM).


Responsibilities will include:


  • Carry out site inspections to ensure standards are being maintained within waste yards and that all waste processes are being carried out correctly and safety, within agreed schedules and processes
  • Ensure waste is collected from site in a timely manner to maximise opportunity for profit and control unnecessary expenditure.
  • Support contract management team where required to formally investigate concerns through the company disciplinary process if staff aren't achieving required results.
  • Liaise with waste contractors to ensure smooth and timely removal of waste from site, collating relevant documentation to support reporting and invoicing requirements
  • Work with the Account Administrator to deliver monthly reports on time and ensure reporting is accurate.
  • Always maintain positive approach with clients
  • Be proactive in suggesting new opportunities and new processes
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety and environmental training for the OCS Waste Operatives
  • Maintain legislative documentation such as Waste Transfer Notes, Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes and Producer Returns for the minimum period as instructed by OCS Environment Manager.

Qualifications and Experience required:


  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely to clients/senior management
  • Extensive knowledge of the waste hierarchy, circular economy and zero waste principles
  • Extensive experience in waste management operations & current waste practises
  • Proven experience within hazardous waste management
  • Waste Supplier & Duty of Care management
  • Good knowledge of the waste code of practise, hazardous waste regulations, waste framework directive and environmental protection act.
  • ADR awareness trained.
The following areas of experience and knowledge would also be desirable:

  • Lithium-Ion battery awareness (Vehicle/Equipment)
  • Project coordination/management
  • Understanding of the 17 x sustainability development goals
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 and experience of audit requirements
