About us

Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit.

We're not just home to UK's fast-growing economy, we're home to the most important conversations happening today. And we're making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind.
Here's where you can help decide a better future for us all.

The role
This is an exciting opportunity to support the Mayor's office.

You will be responsible for driving the Mayor to various engagements and ensure the office and mayoral programme of annual events are well managed.

You will also carry out Mace bearing duties and ensure that they have the appropriate regalia for each event.

You will be working with the Mayor and the Mayor's Officer to ensure that they are prepared for all events they are attending including ensuring that the Mayor has received appropriate briefings.

The role requires you to be on duty for official and civic engagements as required which may be during the day, evenings, or weekends.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require a DBS.

About you

A clean driving licence and experience of driving for 2 years is essential and an understanding of the transport requirements of the mayoralty would be beneficial.

You will need to have knowledge of car maintenance.

The postholder will meet and liaise with key contacts who will include Chief officers, Cabinet Members and Elected members, MPs, members of the community from within Camden as well as the Representative Deputy Lieutenant, representatives of Foreign Governments as well as Royalty on occasion.

Therefore, you will need to be confident, diplomatic and tactful in your approach.

You will need to be able to work flexibly as worked hours will depend on the Mayor's schedule.

Working for Camden
We're ready to welcome your ideas, your ideas, your views, and your rebellious spirit.
