SUMMARY
To provide and maintain a good supply chain for purchased parts to enable customer demands to be met on time.
To be an integral part of continuous improvement within the purchasing and planning team, including improving the ERP processes. Work with the Purchasing & Planning Team Leader to achieve the agreed KPIs.
To work closely with the Customer Support Team to enable excellent communication to customers in relation to ensure timely order fulfilment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Planning
- Create and maintain production schedule/s in line with completion dates
- Work with the members of the purchasing & planning team to ensure materials are available to meet customer demand
- Troubleshoots problems that occur during production and liaise with production team leads regarding staff shortages and machinery malfunctions
- Develop close working relationships with all internal teams to enable effective and timely fulfilment of customer orders
- Ensure all relevant reports are updated timely so as to alert relevant departments of any potential issues, as well as keeping SAP updated with latest information
Purchasing
- Run, analyse and raise purchase orders based on MRP (Material Requirements Planning) suggestions for specific purchasing group on a biweekly basis.
- Chase any delayed orders from suppliers as required.
- Update SAP when new delivery dates are received from suppliers. Analyse any delayed delivery dates and discuss any supply issues with the Planners and Customer Support Advisors
- Handle overseas shipping document in a timely manner so that the freight forwarder has the paperwork when the shipment arrives in the UK
- Handle invoices queries arising with Esker
- Develop close working relationships with all internal teams to enable effective and timely fulfilment of customer orders
General
Ensure a safe working environment, follow, support, and maintain working practices, comply with all relevant HSE legislation and local policies and procedures.
Essential Criteria
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience of MRP systems
- Good problemsolving and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Fluent in English
- Experience in scheduling and understanding reports
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
- Experience in following Quality Systems
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of SAP
- Project Management experience
- Purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of ISO 9001 & ISO1400
- Ability to read & understand Technical and Machine Drawings
