Seven Resourcing is helping to recruit for a Public Health Manager in their Public Health services for Dudley Council.

Reports to Head of Service.

£672.26 per day rate.

Initial 3 month contract


Job Purpose:

The post holder will develop and manage major public health programmes in line with the Council's public heath responsibilities, the Council plan and the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, to achieve priority outcomes (including those included in the PublicHealth Outcomes Framework) for adults and communities that contribute to the delivery of priority health and wellbeing outcomes; managing


the provision of public health support to the NHS, social care and key children and young people's partnerships to ensure that children's health and wellbeing is protected and improved.

There are five posts which will initially each focus on one of the areas below:

  • Managing the re-design, maximising uptake, promoting integration and supporting the commissioning of adult public health services (including mandated services);
  • Developing healthy places and working with partners to maximise the positive and minimise the negative effects of the environment and housing on health and wellbeing;
  • Developing healthy workplaces across the borough (including the Council), working with partners to support people with poor health back into work, addressing the economic determinants of health and overseeing the work of the Credit Union
  • Managing the Council's Love Your Community programme to be a community council; developing healthy communities; leading corporate work on community development and engagement; developing and supporting the contribution that the local voluntary and communitysector makes to achieving Council priorities


The postholder is responsible for assessing needs and assets, implementing service improvements, promoting integrated solutions to key health and wellbeing priorities, managing transformation and efficiency projects and the effective management of staffand budgets to deliver agreed priorities.


S/he will ensure that the views of the public, service users and their carers are incorporated in the commissioning and provision of services.


The postholder will play a crucial role in embedding health and wellbeing across the Council and implementing Love Your Community, the Council's development plan to be a Community Council.


The postholder will provide high level, expert professional advice, tools and training to develop and deliver public health programmes across the council, the local NHS, other statutory agencies and the local community and voluntary sector.


Duties:

  • To participate in a Performance Review and Development meeting and undertake a plan of education and training where necessary. Develop his/her own skills and expertise in a professional manner.

  • To represent the Council and Directorate in a professional manner meeting the Corporate and Directorate aims.
  • To comply with Directorate and Corporate policies.
  • If appropriate to be responsible for the recruitment and performance management of designated teams and individuals in accordance with Corporate and Directorate aims and management style.
  • To comply with the council's financial regulation and standing orders.
  • To actively promote Dudley's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults at a level appropriate to this group.
  • Employees must comply with health and safety legislation and will be required to comply with the Council's Health and Safety Policies. All employees must ensure that they take reasonable care of their own health and safety as well as the health and safetyof any person that is affected by their actions.
  • As a Manager the post-holder is accountable for implementing and ensuring compliance, across his/her own area of responsibility, with DMBC Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
This includes responsibility for fostering a safety culture in which health, safety and related issues are seen as essential and integral parts in the service unit's activities


Applicant Requirements:


Qualifications:

Relevant Public Health Degree Qualification


Experience:2+ years experience as a Public Health Manager


Compliance:
Up to date Passport


Travel:
Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.


Hours:37 hours p/w.
