Accounting Specialist (Glasgow, UK)

Ensuring thorough and competent finance support in one of the world ́s leading consultancies within the renewable industry.


To ensure competent and timely finance support to our continuously increasing organization worldwide, we are currently looking for a dedicated Accountant Specialist with profound, professional experience.

Based at office in either Glasgow you will take on a central role in our small Finance team. You will report to our Finance Manager, UK and be part of a growing company and organization.


As Accounting Specialist your overall responsibility will be to deliver thorough and competent finance support to our organization in the UK and Australia.


Main tasks for you will include:

Payroll:
Manage payroll function for UK, incl. Group Pension requirements
Responsible for payroll related balance sheet reconciliations
Ensuring monthly PAYE/NIC liabilities are settled


Bank:
Responsibility for AUS Entity bank account incl. cashflow forecast
Monthly Bank Reconciliation of Multi-Currency Bank Accounts


First Card:
First Card - Weekly download for Group incl. general administration
Journal between creditor and Employee First Card payment
Awareness of Danish/UK vat rules on employee expenses


General:
Responsible for integrity of AP Function for Parent Company - input, upload, gain approval for cost and settlement of creditors

Sales Invoicing - finalise invoices, ensuring VAT and country specific tax requirements are managed

Assist with Management of AR function for both UK and AUS entities
Regular review of WIP for AUS entity to ensure that all rechargeable work is invoiced on a timely basis.
Maintaining the fixed asset register and depreciation schedule for the company
Processing of Accruals/Prepayments
Preparation of quarterly vat returns with full reconciliation to TB
Support and share best practice on maintenance of books and records
Interface with HMR&C and external advisors and any other ad-hoc taxation issues
Completing various government statistical returns as required
Assist the FM with preparation of year-end audit file and supporting documentation for the company's external auditors.

Undertake any other duties as the Company may reasonably required

Accounting expertise and business understanding


You hold a relevant educational background within Finance, Accounting or Economics and a qualified (ICAS / ACCA / CIMA) or QBE combined with 5+ years of professional experience in a similar position, preferably from a global company.

Profound knowledge of all practical aspects of accounting (e.g., transactions, reconciliations) is a prerequisite to successfully fulfill this position. Experience with UK and Australian payroll will be seen as an advantage. Furthermore, you excel in ERP setups (finance and project setup) and you possess solid skills in Microsoft
Excel.

As a person, you are client and people-oriented always aiming at delivering high quality, optimum support and stretched flexibility.

You have a structured and methodical approach to your job while at the same time keeping the overview, and you set high standards through e.g., optimization of processes.
