The role of a Fleet Risk Consultant is core to what we do at AIG, both as a risk management resource to our underwriters and to clients.

Risk Consultants are responsible for working with underwriters to support the business objectives of the UK Fleet Underwriting team.

A Day in the Life


Looking for variety and a challenge? Fleet Risk Consultants provide our underwriters with expertise and knowledge in order to review potential new business prospects and advise on risk exposures.

Working closely with underwriters, the Fleet Risk Consultant will work on a huge variety of different fleets including car, van, truck and even micro-mobility solutions.

The Fleet Risk Consultant will also visit clients and undertake fleet loss prevention surveys.

One day you may be looking at a commercial car fleet, the next, a large fleet delivery operation associated with a retail operation.

What You'll Need

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
More than five (5) years of experience in insurance loss control, transportation industry, or transportation consulting
Strong analytical skills
Strong communicator (both oral and written)
Expert knowledge of UK Fleet legislation

Knowledge of current technology for improving safety both active and passive, such as, collision warning and mitigation, lane departure, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise, AI in-cab cameras and telematic data.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook


Responsibilities:

Provide day to day support to underwriters in their risk selection of market opportunities and participate in pipelining activities.

Engage with clients directly as requested by underwriters and conduct Fleet loss prevention surveys to evaluate exposure/risk associated with operations, controls in place, and the safety culture of various clients and provide detailed written reports to help underwriting make informed decisions regarding insurance terms.

These surveys may be mainly on client premises.
Undertake research and develop learning material for underwriting functions.
Provide training and thought leadership to underwriting and other stakeholders.
Adhere to all AIG guidelines and policies.


Additional Requirements:

Ability to make decisions with and without established guidelines and to provide technical support to underwriters and clients.
Ability to work closely with various underwriting colleagues, insurance brokers and clients.
Ability to perform physical activities required for the position.
Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace hazards.
Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment.
Ability to perform work in the outdoors.
Ability to wear safety equipment required for the position (hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection)
Ability to safely work in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations.
Ability to type at a computer for several hours a day.
Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.
