The role leads and develops the Permanent Way design team on a range of rail renewal, upgrade, and enhancement schemes.

Leadership of large team and department project portfolio - delivering Permanent Way designs or multi-disciplinary packages.


What you'll be doing
As
Head of Track Solutions, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Ensure the engineering organisational structure is deployed and fit for purpose
  • That Permanent Way design on projects, including liaising with client, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure that the permanent way is fully integrated into the overall

- scheme
  • Approve technical documentation including calculations, reports and specifications in accordance
- with standards and procedures
  • Approve designer's risk assessments eliminating hazards wherever possible through the design

- process
  • Oversee technical aspects of track design work undertaken by the design team where required
  • Check/review the work of other team members
  • Deliver design packages to budget, quality and programme
  • Maintain good relationships with Client's key representative
  • Receive good customer feedback
  • Attend formal interdisciplinary design reviews
  • Develop and deliver cost effective solutions to meet the client brief
  • Mentor and develop team members
  • Provide ongoing development of the Track Solutions team;

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Proven competency and experience to meeting requirements of NR/L2/INI/0200
  • Leads and manages project technical assurance & compliance
  • High customer acceptance and satisfaction
  • Positive Monthly KPI reports
  • Key staff development, training and support identified and provided
  • Provides support and direction to the technical resource
  • Undertakes performance improvement action where required
  • Robust knowledge of both design and construction practices
  • Excellent presentation and Managerial skills
  • Good programme commercial and personable acumen.
  • IT proficient, Process control orientated, Selfmotivated, Approachable and diplomatic
  • Working knowledge and requirements of safety legislation and regulations, including Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM 201
  • Knowledge of stressing
