EXAM INVIGILATOR
Key Function
To provide support in conducting external examinations for pupils, ensuring that all JCQ regulatory requirements for the conduct of examinations are strictly adhered to.
Line Management
Responsible to the Exams Officer
Specific Duties
- To assist with setting up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with the outlined procedures.
- To check attendance during examinations and complete attendance registers.
- To start and finish examinations at the appointed time
- To inform the Exams Officer immediately of any exam irregularities as defined by JCQ regulations.
- Collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in accordance with examination regulations.
- Attend staff meetings as appropriate
- Attend Inset training events as appropriate
- To act as a reader and/or scribe in GCSE examinations where necessary
- Work in such a way as to promote the ethos and vision of the school.

- Confidentiality and data protection.
- To complete any other tasks commensurate with the post as requested by the Exams Officer, Chief Operating Officer, or the Headmaster.
Pattern of Work
Work will be seasonal. Hours will be agreed on a termly basis as required.
Person Specification Essential Criteria
- GCSE Grade C ( or equivalent ) in English and Mathematics
- Keep calm under pressure and during unexpected circumstances
- Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of the team or alone as necessary.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable Criteria
- QCF accredited relevant vocational qualification e.g. NVQ, City and Guilds or other
- Previous experience of working as an Exams Invigilator or in higher education environment.
- An understanding of the examination process.
- To be familiar with the JCQ regulations surrounding the conduct of examination
