Commercial Insurance Underwriter

Full time permanent role - hybrid working available office and home based.

Mon-Fri

Haywards Heath based - close to station with parking available on site and nearby


Salary:
£28000-£30000 depending on experience plus good company benefits


Senior and Trainee roles are also available with higher salaries for Senior and lower for Trainees
My fast growing, established and very professional client provide underwriting services on behalf of a range of insurers.


They provide insurance products to the broker market via traditional and digital distribution methods, employing a team of experienced underwriters across each class.


They underwrite in both the standard and non-standard market across most classes and provide a fast and accurate response in time scales most of their competitors cannot match.

The role:


The role will focus on underwriting new business and servicing existing accounts generated by the panel of brokers You will use your knowledge and judgement to evaluate new & existing risks within a delegated authority environment.


We are searching for a real team player who will share knowledge, take accountability and deliver their share of the workload.

Duties, skills and experience required:


You will handle new business, renewal, rating and adjustment enquiries and also cover requests, referring to in house senior underwriters or to risk carriers if required.

Your skill will develop to include selecting the right risks & generating strong relationships with brokers. You'll seek further to expand these relationships to generate more business from brokers


Offering a responsive service to the brokers across company distribution channels and be able to work at speed when work flow dictates.


Competencies required:

Effective communication skills with colleagues and brokers

Attention and accuracy to detail in data entry and presenting data.

Able to use standard MS office products, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint & relevant IT systems

Analytical problem solving approach with initiative and a 'can do' attitude.

A natural ability to look at the finer details and ask questions; digging deeper where necessary.

An empathetic, self-motivated team player who takes ownership and accountability
