We work in partnership with Northamptonshire Health Foundation Trust and other Mental Health providers to support the mental health community through service provision, campaigning and influencing.


We are local leaders in developing innovative services that support people with mental health illness and together with our partners in the Mental Health Northants Collaboration, we are leading the way in redesigning and providing Mental Health services.

We also provide education and learning opportunities for people completing professional qualifications in Social Care, Counselling and Psychotherapy.

We have an opportunity for a Navigator Team Leader who shares our values, someone who has integrity, is compassionate and person-centred, dedicated and inclusive to join our amazing team.


The role is to manage our team of Mental Health Navigators ensuring that they can work within the outline of their role, that is to; provide a telephone and face to face service for the public, assessing and signposting individuals ready to engage in support, for their mental health issues and concerns, to appropriate services from across the community.


Working hours and location


The role is working between the IRH in Rushden and the local CMHT teams that are currently located throughout the County.


The business operates 7 days per week, 8am to 8pm in the Integrated Response Hub (IRH) based in Rushden, however this role is for 37 hours per week over 5 days includes working 1 weekend in 4 & some late nights working until 8pm.

You may have to work some bank holidays which will be given back as time in lieu.


The hours are 37 hours per week over 5 days, including weekend and bank holidays, with 8pm finishes as and when the service needs.

Key Duties include:
Ability to motive and empower a team of 20. Holding of monthly supervision sessions for each team member, reporting and addressing any needs Liaison with our key partner, Northamptonshire Health Foundation Trust, management on a regular basis ensuring good communication between joint teams and, to review and develop working practices Monitoring of call handling system Administering and management of the rota to ensure coverage in line with the contract, including annual leave Updating of knowledge base of third sector services across the county Assessment of needs and competencies of staff and development of training plans Recruitment and induction of new team members Working with other Mind staff members and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the service. Adhere to all safeguarding, risk management, risk assessment and lone working policies and procedures. Maintain high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself, colleagues, and service users always. To complete monitoring and auditing tasks. Draft reports, collate information, record accurate statistics, and present them in an appropriate format as necessary. Ensure that tasks are completed within specified timeframes and all information is shared between relevant internal and external parties, keeping the management fully informed. To participate in team meetings with colleagues as appropriate. To share information about the support needs of service users with other team members. To communicate effectively with other team members ensuring that relevant information is passed on to the team. To work as part of a team in delivering a professional service and ensuring that service quality and provision is always maintained across the organisation. Perform all other duties as may reasonably be expected of the role

Experience and Skills:
Knowledge of mental health issues

  • Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and ability to accurately maintain records
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload.
  • Excellent communications skills, written and verbal, and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people.
  • Understanding of safeguarding protocols, procedures, and boundaries
  • Previous experience of management of a diverse team, desirable.
  • Experience in managing conflict resolution and promoting a positive working environment.
