Job Overview:


We are seeking an exceptional consumer product and marketing leader to help drive us into the homes of sports players and fans globally.


As the first leader entirely dedicated to this strategic growth area for Sony, the opportunity is hands on, exploratory, highly ambitious and collaborative.

Working with multiple Sony entities including those dedicated to Sony Sports (Hawk-Eye, Pulselive, Beyond Sports) and more widely engaging with other Sport entertainment pillars such as Playstation, Sony Pictures, Sony Music.

This role will translate the D2C strategy into actionable plans and lead the journey to commercial success


Reporting into the Chief Executive of Sony Sports, this role will work with a range of different levels and stakeholders within Sports and further afield.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategy & Ideation

  • Refine the D2C vision and build a comprehensive D2C strategy to meet the ambitions of Sony Sports
  • Identify strategic opportunities and pathways to translate the strategy into commercial proposition and plans; gaining a clear understanding of differing sports fan segments and their associated needs, and ensure technology is a differentiator in defining solutions
  • Take existing products and technologies throughout the Sports businesses and identify ways to convert these into consumer propositions, combining sets of core features to fulfil the product plans
  • Create the business case/s for central funding, and / or inbusiness funding
  • Ideate around new products to bring to market, and work with the relevant tech teams to bring to fruition
  • Work with the strategy office on potential M&A opportunities to accelerate the fulfilment of the D2C strategy
  • Define the most appropriate commercial model/s to fit the proposition and target market
  • Be the voice of consumer led product development throughout the senior management team/s, and play a pivotal role in shaping the wider company strategy
  • Own and manage the D2C P&L

Consumer & Marketing

  • Specify target market through phased approach of entry into D2C market, ensuring alignment to vision
  • Define clear plans to build the right communities for the strategy, seeing through the minds of sports fans, players and grass root coaches
  • Work with the marketing function to establish activation plans
  • Create innovative and insightful plans to build brand presence for Sony Sports within the target communities
  • Deeply explore sports communities and ensure the businesses see through the minds of consumers

Leadership

  • Build and lead an innovative and commercially skilled team, creating an environment to deliver our ambitions
  • Show immediate credibility in representing the sports businesses to internal and external stakeholders, bringing insightful ideas to deliver the plan
  • Bring together tech, product and marketing leaders to align on actions and plans including product direction and execution
  • Liaise with the leaders of the businesses, and wider Sony sponsors to galvanise support throughout the group
  • Being an influential voice and catalyst for driving business transformation

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in consumer product roles
  • Knowledge of, or experience in the Sports industry
  • Experience of activation and bringing tech products to consumers
  • Experience of quality decision making in ambiguous environments
  • Likely hold a marketing or commercially orientated degree
