Our operational wind farms Afton (100% equity), Beatrice (25%) and Överturingen (50%) have an installed capacity of 320 MW (RRPL proportion), while our development projects Benbrack onshore wind farm in the South West of Scotland (100%) and Inch Cape offshore wind farm off the East Coast (50%) will deliver an additional 570 MW.


Job Purpose
The Cost Controller is part of the Red Rock Power Limited Technical Department providing support to the Companies assets.


The Cost Controller will initially be assigned to the Benbrack Project Team with responsibility for the delivery and management of robust cost management frameworks, procedures and tools and accurate project cost reporting and analysis.


  • Develop and maintain project budgets and cost reports on behalf of the Project/Package Managers ensuring EAC forecasts are available at a suitable level for each financial month end close, gate review boards, annual budgets and critical project decisions.
  • Monitor and control project actuals, value of work done (VOWD), commitments and forecast costs against approved budgets and prepare accurate project reports for senior management.
  • Responsible for maintaining a robust change control process within the project and recommend actions accordingly.
  • Liaise with Planning to ensure accurate and timely control and forecasting of budgets and ensure that the impact of all change requests is properly assessed and included in the schedule.
  • Supervise and monitor monthly cost reports from project contractors and /or consultants ensuring timely and accurate accrual submissions to finance.
  • Support finance in validating monthly invoice/billing requests from contractors and/or consultants are correct and inline with approved budget and any variations challenged.
  • Participate in cost & estimate risk analysis sessions as required.
  • Establish Fit for Purpose Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for each phase of the project.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build, maintain and strengthen relationships with colleagues.
  • Proficient with Excel and SAP. Experience in working with MS Applications and P6.

Knowledge and Experience Required
Essential

  • Proven track record of working as a cost control professional on Small/Mid/Large capital project(s) within offshore wind and/or other energy sectors.
  • Significant experience in project cost management cost estimating, cost budgeting, change control, commitments, VOWD, cost forecasting, progress reporting, WBS structures etc. in a project development, engineering or construction environment.
  • Previous experience providing support and mentoring to team members.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify areas for improved efficiency on projects and has previous experience implementing strategies to achieve more efficient working.
