Chaplain

ABUHB is looking to recruit a full time chaplain.


Chaplaincy in ABUHB is an evolving service that provides high quality core spiritual, pastoral and religious care to patients and staff, but also seeks new ways to develop services that contribute to the Health Boards commitment to care for patients and its workforce.


Supporting staff in the workplace through wellbeing sessions has been a regular feature of the chaplaincy service and the department is looking to build on our success with new ideas and projects.

Health Board chaplain's provide pastoral, spiritual and religious care. This will include regularly visiting patients to listen to their concerns and fears and to support them pastorally. Chaplains also respond to requests for religious care and encouragement such as prayers and Holy Communion.


Chaplains are regularly called to support patients and families during times of extremis, often to offer a religious service which can include prayers, anointing or Baptism.


Sunday services are a regular feature of our chaplaincy work and as a team we cover two sites every Sunday.

Staff wellbeing and support activities is a core element of the chaplaincy service.

The main responsibilities of the a Health Board chaplain will focus on providing the highest standard of spiritual, pastoral, religious and cultural care and support possible.

Essential to the role of a chaplain are the core duties of emergency response when required to crisis situations.

Sunday duties are currently a part of the role expectation.


Creative thinking and practice is fundamental to department ethos and culture as we strive to develop new ways of delivering spiritual and pastoral care.
