Sustainability and Building Physics Consultant

My client covers a wide range of sectors including education, residential, healthcare, industrial, commercial, and the public sector.

About the role


Within this role as a Sustainability and Building Physics Consultant, you should have strong technical expertise, good leadership, and problem-solving skills, and be a forward planner with the ability to deliver high-standard work to project programmes.

You should also be able to take on the management of more junior team members, along with client relationship management.

The Role

  • Predominantly you will liaise with clients, establish their requirements, and obtain from them all relevant information and documents in order to undertake task required.
  • You will analyse the drawings, specifications and client requirements and undertake the computer modelling of the building using the latest software and input the relevant construction and services details.
  • You will write up the results in report format along with recommendations as appropriate or issue SAP, SBEM results or issue Energy Performance Certificates.
  • You will undertake site surveys, taking dimensions and investigating installed heating, air conditioning lighting and renewable services.
  • Undertake Carbon Modelling in SAP Elmhurst, IES, TAS or similar software.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Building Services or other relevant disciplines, ideally to Masters level.
  • Knowledge of the latest zero carbon regulations including emerging sustainability trends.
  • Experience in carrying out Elmhurst SAP calculations or similar software.
  • Experience in carrying out Energy Modelling in IES, TAS or similar software.
  • Experience in carrying out Overheating Analysis in IES, TAS or similar software.
  • Graduate member of an appropriate professional institution and be working towards achieving full corporate membership and CEnv or CEng status.
