We are looking for an Activity Coordinator, who will support people in a care home setting, Our residents are at the heart of everything we do and we want them to participate in things that matter to them
You will be responsible for maintaining and promoting activities that our residents enjoy and find stimulating.
You must be a good communicator who can find out what people want and organise activities for both individuals and groups and motivate people to participate.
As part of our philosophy of care, we are committed to providing each resident with quality care that is personal to his or her individual needs and must always remember we are in business to meet those needs.
We understand that all residents, as far as they are able to do so, or those acting on their behalf, should fully understand the care, treatment and support choices available to the, be able to express their views, and fully involved in decisions made about them.
This not only involves encouraging residents to continue to enjoy taking part in familiar and meaningful daily activities, but also to engage in new experiences and activities.
Overall your main objective will be to help develop a suitable programme of activities to meet our resident's needs, working closely with other members of staff to ensure residents are fulfilled, stimulated and maintain a healthy mind as well as a healthy body.
The key responsibilities:
- Identify the needs of residents through reading and contributing to individual life stories and care plans.
- Document participation, experience, and document activity information in residents' care plans.
- Support activities, events, and outings, encouraging relatives and visitors to be involved.
- Contribute to a balance of large group, small group and individual activities.
- Assist with inhouse amenities and the provision of services from organisations in the home.
- Assist with building links with the local community (e.g. schools, spiritual groups, museums/libraries).
- To be involved in supporting marketing & fundraising initiatives.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all residents, family, visitors and colleagues.
- Energetic, Creative & Artistic
- Have previous experience in organising daily activities & larger events for groups of people with a variety of needs and tastes.
We are looking for someone who is able to give the highest level of care and devotion to this demanding role.
