At The Elms we provide residential care for the elderly and frail and residents that are living with dementia. Our aim is to maintain and improve our residents' abilities so they can live their life in a meaningful and fulfilling way

Due to expansion of our home we are looking for Part Time and Full Time Health Care Assistants. Experienced carers and /or applicants with the right attitude and commitment to work alongside our dedicated team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To conduct oneself and all care given in such a way, so as not to bring the Home, or its residents, into disrepute.
- To maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of care and management of the Home
- To be aware of and comply with all policies and procedures of the Home and all guidelines and legislation set by authoritative bodies.
- To be knowledgeable regarding health and safety at work, including environmental health
- To inform the Manager if any serious difficulty or abnormality takes place.
- To attend and contribute to staff meetings.
- To meet and maintain all relevant training
Practical:
- Establish and maintain a good and caring relationship with Residents always showing kindness, tact and respect whilst maintaining Resident's privacy, dignity and selfrespect.
- Provide physical care equivalent to that which might be provided by a competent and caring relative, including appropriate degrees of help with washing, dressing, bathing, feeding and comfort rounds.
- Help residents with mobility difficulties and other physical disabilities such as assisting with meals and personal care.
- Help with the care and use of aids and personal equipment.
- Provide care when a resident becomes sick and/or terminally ill, above that which equates with the attention someone would receive in their own home under the guidance of the GP or member of the Primary Health Team.
- Develop knowledge, skills and understanding of the needs of residents who are mentally frail, communicating with them effectively.
- Undertaking social duties with all residents, including talking to, sharing with them activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations, and helping to maintain contact with family, friends and community.
- Relate to relevant professional agencies, the residents family and friends with the necessary diplomacy and tact whilst ensuring that confidentiality is maintained
- Assist the Person in Charge in promoting the participation and involvement of relatives and friends.
- Documenting all the above and more as required. Regularly review, with assistance as required, individual Residents' care plans.
- Ensure the provision of food, warmth, clothing, monies and other goods are available, and advise the Person in Charge of specific requirements.
- Administer medication, following the Homes policies and procedures, once assessed as competent to do so by the Deputy or Head of Home.
- Maintain tidy and smart appearance at all times.
- Any other reasonable duties as may be required.
- Maintain a happy working environment for all staff and residents by maintaining the continuity of the Home and fulfilling any key tasks specifically allocated to themselves and by always work in accordance with the Aims and Objectives of the Home
