Description

The Deputy Operational Team Leader role will work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of Leeds GP Confederation operational services including the Enhanced Access Hours and Same Day Response Services, working in partnership with the operational leadership team.

The Deputy Operational Team Leader will have excellent communication and relationship-building skills and will be the first point of contact for the team on shift, escalating issues to the on-call manager, where needed.

The Deputy Operational Team Leader will work closely with the Operational Team Leaders and Clinical Leads to ensure contractual requirements are met.

They will build relationships with Clinical Directors, PCN Managers and GP Practice Managers.

Working with the Operational Team Leaders they will ensure effective utilisation of the services; by monitoring available clinical capacity and supporting any team members who are under pressure.

The Deputy Operational Team Leader will also work closely with partners such as Local Care Direct (LCD) and NHS 111 Directory of Service team to provide patients access to the most appropriate safe and high-quality same day response service.

The Deputy Operational Team Leader will supervise the reception teams on duty, support the induction of new workers and provide training when new processes are introduced.

They should also beable to work under pressure and adapt quickly to ensure service continuity and responsiveness.


Main duties of the job


Provide a first point of contact for front line workers & external parties, dealing with and effectively responding to issues, enquiries, alerts & notifications.

Monitor and control service capacity.

Cascading relevant information to appropriate team members in a timely way.

Provide on the day support and supervision for sessional reception staff who work in the service.

Support the induction of new workers.

Support all workers to understand policy and process.

Ensure staff working in the services have access to the correct equipment, resources and materials to perform their consultations. Ensure that any issues with premises/equipment are resolved or escalated as appropriate.

Provide a robust handover to the on-call manager and leadership team following a session on duty.

Provide detailed weekend handover at the end of the weekend shift.

Ensure that incidents are reported and contribute to the investigation of incidents and complaints as appropriate.

Be familiar with and able to use the Business Continuity Plan/s to address/manage issues

Ensure the environment the services are delivered from meets legislative requirements.

Positively and pro-actively engage with administrative duties.

Job responsibilities
The Deputy Operational Team Leader will support the Operational and Clinical leadership team in meetings and maintain action logs.

The Deputy Operational Team Leader will supervise the reception teams on duty, support the induction of new workers and provide training when new processes are introduced.

As a highly motivated individual the Deputy Operational Team Leader will have excellent organisational skills, be able to work under pressure and adapt quickly to ensure service continuity and responsiveness.


The Deputy Operational Team Leader will be required to work on a rota to ensure that there is adequate shift coordination during the service opening times and be the first point of contact for the teams during these times.

The Deputy Operational Team Leader will be supported by an on-call rota provided by the wider Leeds GP Confederation operational leadership team.


The post holder will be required to work flexibly and attend any of the sites where our services are provided from across Leeds.
