40 hours per week + occasional overtime

£23,088 per annum + overtime payments

Three Counties Crematorium in Braintree is a modern, state-of-the-art building, which was officially opened on 2 June 2009 by the Right Reverend J Gladwin, Bishop of Chelmsford. Our chapel can accommodate larger funerals and is multi-faith; we can help you arrange the service according to your cultural and religious needs. We aim to provide the highest possible standards of care in all aspects of our service.


Three Counties Crematorium is looking for a compassionate, dedicated individual to join our team as a Groundsperson, to manage the day-to-day duties in the Crematorium & Cemetery grounds.

What Will I Be Doing as a Groundsperson?


As a Groundsperson, you will be carrying out a full range of gardening & horticultural tasks, including building new gardens and maintaining a high-quality environment.


Other duties will include:


  • Take care of the grounds, keeping them maintained and presentable.
  • Supporting the creation of memorials/memorial gardens and plots to client specification.
  • Make sure graves are dug appropriately for the deceased and maintain graves as needed for the friends and family of the deceased.
  • Clear the grounds, paths and roadways of litter.
  • Dealing with visitors' enquiries.
  • Carry out any other duties when reasonably requested to do so by your Line Manager.

What Do I Need?

  • Horticultural/ gardening/grounds keeping experience is essential
  • Experience in operating mechanical gardening equipment is advantageous, although training can be provided for this
  • Is comfortable with manual handling tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential
  • Good communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a team or carrying out tasks by yourself

Advantageous:


  • Previous experience in the industry, though this is not required, as full training will be provided.
