Adult Carer Support Worker (Maternity Cover for 12 months)
ACCOUNTABLE TO:
Adult Carer Project Manager
GRADE &
SALARY:
£21,331 rising to £22,398 per annum (pro rata)
HOURS:
18 hours per week
LOCATION:
Cumberland (West Cumbria)
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
- To work as part of the Carer Support West Cumbria Team, assist in the identification of carers of all ages, assess needs and implement appropriate support mechanisms to assist carers in their caring roles
- To raise awareness of the needs of carers with both statutory and voluntary sector agencies
- To undertake contingency planning arrangements with carers for emergencies
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Raise awareness of the needs of Carers and the issues relating to their Caring role
- To identify and make contact with Carers in such a way as to enable them to express their needs and views
- Assist Carers to complete Carers Assessments leading to an appropriate support plan
- Contact with carers can be through face to face meetings, on the telephone or through virtual means
- To enter data accurately and in a timely manner onto Carer Support West Cumbria database systems and IAS (CCC database system). Training will be given
- Signpost Carers to a range of practical/leisure support services, where possible using already established agencies and organisations to meet needs identified by Carers
- To work closely with statutory, voluntary and other agencies to enable them to make appropriate provision for the practical and emotional support of Carers and Young Carers
- To identify and document appropriate case information
- To provide an uptodate information service for Carers and their families and professionals working with Carers
- To arrange appropriate training for carers
- Maintain and develop links with Statutory Authorities to ensure the long term needs of Carers are reflected in long term planning
- To attend meetings/provide written progress reports/project monitoring and evaluation to Carer
- To make and sustain links with local, regional and national networks of and for Carers and Young carers
- To arrange respite help and care tailored to meet the carer's needs and responsibilities
- To provide information around benefits and where appropriate refer carers to Carer Support West
- To work closely with all other Support Workers and Young Carers Support Workers
- To attend any relevant training provided by Carer Support West Cumbria
- To work in accordance with all Carer Support West Cumbria policies and procedures
- To provide support and information within the office. Links with Carer Support West Cumbria team members and Line Manager can be through direct meetings and /or digitally through the use of
- To attend Carers events, trips, activities, meetings and forums as required; by attending in person or digitally through the use of TEAMS or Zoom
- To carry out any additional relevant duties as required by this post
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Generic Carer Support Worker
ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS/ Reasonable educational attainment at Relevant qualification or training in
EDUCATION:
secondary school level Social Work, Nursing or in the caring profession
Minimum NVQ level 3
KNOWLEDGE:
Of carers issues Of the work of carers organisations
Long term disabilities and illnesses Of the work of Social Services in
Able to use complex database systems relation to carers and the cared for and have excellent knowledge of IT Of welfare benefits
Knowledge of care related assessments
