J Murphy & Sons are looking for a Document Controller to help provide assistance, support and advice on all document control issues within the Transportation (Rail) Business Unit.

Effectively
manage all document control aspects for allocated Projects. This role will located at our Golborne office with the requirement of a variety Project/ site visits.

What you will be doing

  • Ensure document control requirements are administered as per contract requirements and within agreed timescales and available for use for all relevant parties
  • Maintain the CDE (F Drive/Aconex and/or Client CDE). Ensure information stored on Client's CDEs is permanently available or transferred to the JMS CDE prior to contract completion.
  • Create and maintain document registers as required.
  • Allocate document numbers as per the JMS or Client specified Document Numbering procedure.
  • Quality check documents and edit any that have typographical / formatting errors that may lead t the disqualification of the document or cause it to look unprofessional. Ensure the entire document is legible.
  • Attention to details ensuring documents are signed and the correct version are uploaded without any errors and are uploaded to the various parties on a timely manner and according to the programme deadline
  • Assist in the collation and issue of project / site 'startup' packs.
  • Assist in the collation and issue of handover documentation (O&M manuals, H&S files, asbuilt records, databooks etc.)
  • Assist with site scanning of documents and records, ensure legibility and traceability.
  • Assist with the development and training of assistant document controllers.
  • Raise any Document Control issues / concerns at the earliest opportunity, with appropriate person, document and inform the Senior DC or Doc Control Manager.
  • Undertake any other work as required of you by your LM or SDC (any long terms duties must be DC related)
  • Ensure the Sector / BU / Project teams adhere to group procedures and governance.
  • Cover work for other DCs as required.

Who are we looking for

  • Demonstrable experience in a professional Document Control department
  • Experience of the Infrastructure / Civil / Engineering / Construction industry
  • Some working knowledge of the Rail industry, including Network Rail working practices, would be advantageous
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of operating IT systems, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access and/or dedicated Electronic Document Management Systems such as Aconex, ProjectWise etc
  • A real cando attitude, and professional outlook and positive influencer
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel to projects and sites is key with this role
