A fantastic opportunity to join the SBU HB Finance Team has arisen & we are looking for a strong, strategic Finance Leader to undertake the post of Deputy Finance Business Partner (FBP).


This is an good opportunity to work with experienced FBPs & Service Directors to improve patient outcomes, experiences & deliver value for money.

The Deputy FBP with the FBP will provide strong strategic financial leadership to the Service Group.

Ensuring the Service Group focuses on delivering financial performance, supported by an excellent governance framework & embedding a culture of improvement with sound professional financial advice and support.


You will provide strategic financial leadership to the senior management team of the Service Group & with the FBP ensure the provision of financial management services throughout the service area.


You will be a CCAB fully qualified accountant, with experience of operating at a senior management level and experience of leading a team.

You will have excellent interpersonal, presentation, analytical & problem-solving skills & have experience of dealing with difficult situations and the ability to handle conflict in a positive & professional manner.

You will be a compassionate & strategic leader and be able to effectively communicate & build strong working relationships with a range of internal &external stakeholders at all levels.


Alongside the Senior Management Team of the Service Group & the FBP, the Deputy FBP are responsible for operational & performance management, service quality & planning, resource use & modernisation in the Service group.


The Deputy FBP is responsible for providing the professional advice & leadership, along with the Finance Business Partner to the Service Group, to ensure there is clear direction & financial control of services, & contributing to and ensuring the delivery of strategic & operational service objectives set by the Board & the Health Board Executive.


Advise & lead the Clinical & the Management team on complex business planning issues, & takes the lead in providing financial advice that contributes to the achievement of both Service Group & organisational objectives.


Ensures that the outputs from the Service group financial position contribute to ensuring that all statutory NHS accounts & returns represent a true & fair view, meeting timescales and legal requirements, interpreting these where necessary.

The Deputy FBP will provide comprehensive financial leadership & advice to the Clinical & the Management team.

The post holder will ensure the highest standards of financial stewardship & performance management & will actively manage the delegated financial position to achieve breakeven positions for all service areas.
