_Qualified nursery practitioner / nursery nurse _
We are currently seeking an experienced nursery nurse (minimum level 3) to join the Building Blocks team.

We are a very busy nursery and pride ourselves in our commitment to continuing professional development, therefore there is an expectation that you will continue enhance your knowledge and skills in relation to all aspects of this role once employed.

The nursery is open days a week, this post is for 3/5 days a week within the opening hours depending on the successful applicants requirements.

Job description

  • To understand, implement and adhere to the Early Years foundation stage and supporting development matters guidance, legislation and guidance outlined by Ofsted.
  • Ensuring children are provided a safe, secure, happy and well stimulated learning environment.
  • Operate a programme of activities to engage and stimulate the children and encourage their natural curiosity, in conjunction with the room supervisor.
  • To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all the children placed in the nursery.
  • To safeguard children at all times in accordance to the settings policies and procedures and stipulations in Working together to safeguard children
  • To ensure mandatory qualifications are kept up to date.
  • To access a minimum of 15 hours per year of additional professional development as identified by your room supervisor, deputy or manager.
  • Record accidents/incidents within the setting as well as those which have occurred out of nursery on the correct format in accordance to the settings policy and procedures.
  • To strictly follow the settings policy and procedure on medication, completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Provide suitable support to an allocated key group, facilitated through effective observations, evaluations, assessments and implementation of developmentally appropriate planning.
  • To identify any child in your key group who is not making appropriate developmental progress.
  • Understand and Implement the settings policies and procedures.
  • Work in partnership with parents to ensure their child's individual needs are being met to achieve full integration within the nursery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and other family members to support partnership working to provide best outcomes for their child.
  • To work effectively as part of a team to provide, positive, structured and enabling environments where children are respected and treated as individuals.
  • To help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, evening cleaning, cleaning of equipment and such other duties of an equivalent nature as may be determined by your supervisor or management team.
  • To attend monthly staff/planning meetings outside working hours.
  • Work alongside the manager, deputy and supervisor to ensure that the Montessori and nursery philosophy is fulfilled.
  • Clean and change the children as required ensuring the toilet area remains hygienic and tidy.
  • Help children to learn to use the potty/toilet following the nursery policy procedure.
  • Provide comfort and warmth consistency to all children.
  • To be actively involved and provide input to the progression of your classroom.
  • To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold these standards at all times.
  • To be prepared to work in other class rooms if required.
  • To take on other duties related to nursery life as required or instructed by your supervisor, deputy or the manager.

What experience and qualifications must I have to apply?

  • NNEB, CACHE level 3, NVQ level 3 or equivalent (minimum).
  • A current certificate in: Paediatric first aid, Basic Awareness in Child Protection and Safeguarding Children and Food Safety and Hygiene. (Or willingness to undertake these with immediate effect).
  • A good understanding of the Early Years foundation stage and development matters guidance.
  • Prior experience of working with children.
  • A good understanding of child development theory.
  • Two references from previous employment or, in the case of a newly qualified practitioner, their tutor etc, the second can be a character reference
  • Proof of qualifications where applicable
  • Completion of a health check questionnaire
  • An uptodate enhanced DBS check.

£12.80 per hour
