The Castle Partnership Trust is seeking to recruit an individual to the new post of Site Supervisor to be based at
The Castle School, Taunton.

The Castle Partnership Trust currently comprises two secondary schools (The Castle School in Taunton and Court
Fields School in Wellington) and two Primary schools (Wellesley Park School and Isambard Kingdom Brunel). A fifth school, Orchard Grove Primary School, is due to open in September 2023 in Taunton. Other schools are also likely to join the Trust over the next few years.

The in-house Facilities team supports all aspects of buildings and grounds infrastructure.

The postholder will make a significant contribution to ensuring that all buildings and grounds are in a safe and well-maintained condition to give the best possible learning environment for our students.

Main Responsibilities and Duties
Within specified criteria, guidelines and policies, the post holder will use their skills and experience to maintain the school buildings and facilities in the best possible condition


This would include:

  • Compliance / record keeping.
  • Complete building and site checks including alarm tests, emergency lighting checks, legionella checks and meter readings.
  • Pro-active Maintenance
  • Contribute to a programme of maintenance including painting and decorating.
  • Suggest ideas for improvements to facilities and systems.

Re-active Maintenance:

  • Complete minor, basic repairs to buildings, fixtures and fittings.
  • Respond to emergencies such as floods and leaks.
  • Clear up spillages promptly.

Grounds:

  • Conduct regular litter picks of the school grounds.
  • Conduct regular checks of the school car parks for unauthorised parking.
Support the in-house cleaners (the majority of cleaning is conducted by an external contractor but in-house staff undertake some daytime cleaning):

  • Support our in-house cleaners to maintain high standards of cleaning.
  • Clean toilets, dining rooms etc as required.
  • Clean up spillages, as required, which could, on occasion, include bodily fluids

Other responsibilities:

  • Perform a lock up of the school buildings and grounds at the end of each day setting associated alarms.
  • Set up rooms for lunch / break times, meetings, events and exams and pack equipment up afterwards and clean areas.
  • Assist with the day to day maintenance of the school's minibuses.

General:

  • To participate in an annual review and appraisal process.
  • To safeguard the welfare, health and safety of students.
  • Follow the school policies for inclusion, equity, equality of opportunity and respect for diversity are followed.

Qualifications / training in practical skills such as plumbing x

Education / or carpentry.


Qualifications and D1 minibus licence X


Training
Experience of basic DIY tasks and ability to complete X
these to a good standard. (e.g. putting up shelves, painting and decorating etc)

Experience of operating and maintaining building services X such as plumbing, electrics, carpentry.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience of liaising with contractors X
