The Technical Author will provide expert technical documentation support to key internal and external customers both directly and indirectly to ensure customer growth and, as a result, company profitability.

This role also will contribute to the Pre-Sales and Sales Specialist strategic plan to ensure continuous enhancements are made in the accessibility and quality of documentary information supporting the bid process in alignment with the overall Daisy strategy.


The Technical Author will, to improve process efficiency, co-develop and maintain the company's core proposal document templates, a central knowledgebase of technical documentation relating to the services delivered and will work with the Product teams to produce standardised, professional documentation for inclusion into bids and proposals.


Additionally, as an expert proof-reader, the Technical Author will support the Bid Management process through proofing, editing and standardisation of structure, style, tone, and content of submissions where required.


Job Description:


The Technical Author will primarily work within the Bid Management Team in conjunction with the Senior Bid Manager(s), Product Managers, Sales Specialists and Solution Architects to collate, standardise, catalogue, and maintain high quality bid content material.

The Technical Author will be the focal point for the maintenance and management of all standard documentation, information and knowledgebase data systems, and will develop and maintain the relevant company-wide systems to maximise efficiency, accessibility and accuracy of the information in scope.


  • Develop the Bid Library technical content structure and functionality
  • Work with technical teams to produce clear and consolidated question responses to formal bids
  • Develop and manage proposal workflow automation if required
  • Implement and maintain a solution components knowledgebase
  • Assist the proposition development group with the documentation for new propositions
  • Design, implement and maintain document automation mechanisms for skeleton document generation from agreed cost models for bids, proposals and statements of work if required
  • Develop and maintain document standards and templates in conjunction with companywide stakeholders
  • Identify and rework existing prewritten content where relevant
  • Rewrite/edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, technical, proposition development, finance, commercial, legal and delivery
  • Present all new proposal content to the Bid Library for potential reuse
  • Support the Solutions and Sales Specialist teams with standardised content
  • Provide support to Sales Specialist and Pre-Sales staff from across the business for the consumption of technical and proposition data

  • Interpretation of functional specifications and technical designs to produce highquality documentation
  • Good understanding of users' needs and requirements at different levels
  • Ability to tailor writing to different audiences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional editing and proofreading skills
  • Communicate and influence at a senior level
  • Strong time management/prioritisation skills
  • Exceptional written English language skills
  • Ability to create and maintain a variety of response templates from official RFP/PQQ style to Proactive Proposals both extensive or light
  • Ability to work on Collateral in conjunction with Propositions Development, Marketing and Solution Architects which can be used for Marketing, Sales Education, External Customer communication
  • Identify relevant information produced by the business, whether Marketing, Finance, Propositions Development or Compliance, which can be used to support bids
  • Ability to come up with innovative ways of providing winning bid responses
  • Possession of outstanding interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to communicate and influence at the relevant level with senior management and CxO stakeholders as well as technologists and have the ability to translate technical output into bid content.
  • Experience in planning and implementing online information systems and document management systems
  • Experience in implementing and managing Microsoft SharePoint document repositories and workspaces in an intranet environment
  • Knowledge of web technologies
  • Experience with user interface design
  • Basic programming experience
  • Experience within ISO27001/9001/20000 compliant environments with an understanding of the implications within bid content
  • Ability to handle, prepare and securely manage Protectively Marked documentation, requiring government SC security clearance
  • Experience with producing ITILcompliant documentation and working with ITILcompliant business processes
  • ITIL version 3 Foundation certification desirable
