Mine (Electrical) Apprentice
Do you have an interest all things electrical? Perhaps you've worked in environments where you've been exposed to the electrical side of things, but have not had the opportunity to begin a qualification? Or maybe you're a college leaver, looking for yourstart in the industry?

We're looking to bring in an apprentice, to become a Mine Electrician.

You'll be working for
British Gypsum, based in our
Marblaegis Mine in East Leake.

British Gypsum is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK and the is the UK's leading manufacturer of interior lining systems.


What will I be doing in the role?
To begin with, you will assist the Electrical team with their day-to-day tasks.

Some of the duties you will have the chance to assist, learn and get involved in, include;

  • Carrying out electrical work out at the mine
  • Being aware of mining hazards and act appropriately when safety concerns of this type are highlighted, as well as promoting a positive safety culture
  • Assist and help carry out the installation of a variety of services/schemes
  • Helping to carry out mine maintenance

Is this role right for me?


We're not looking for any specific background, however an electrical interest would benefit, along with the openness to working in a mine.

Experience working with PLC or SCADA systems would be an advantage, however this is desirable and not a pre-requisite.

If you've had some form of electrical training previously, that would be useful, but not a must have.
