The Team:


The Advice Quality team undertake quality assurance activities for pre-sale and post-sale advice and forms part of the Risk Control & Compliance function within M&G Wealth Advice.


We focus on the following advised sales:
Retirement Planning, Estate Planning, Pension Switches, Investment Replacement, Regulated Mortgages, Protection and Equity Release.


Within the Advice Quality team sits the pre-sale and post-sale Advice Quality Consultants, the pre-sale team will assess the suitability of the advice prior to this being presented to the client, with the post-sale team completing the final assessment post-sale.

The Role:


Reporting to the Advice Quality Manager you will undertake quality checking of advised sales and have sufficient product and technical knowledge to make judgements on the suitability of advice outcomes and documentation standards in line with the regulatory requirements.

You will have analytical skills to assess quality outcomes and draw conclusions, with an ability to provide effective feedback. This requires effective communication skills and an ability to report on quality activities.


The role would be a great opportunity for those looking to progress their career within an Advice Quality function, and further their knowledge with specialised advised sales areas such as Equity Release and Long-Term Care.

Key Responsibilities for this role

  • To operate quality checking of advised sales enabling effective judgements on the suitability of client outcomes and supporting documentary evidence, in line with regulatory and internal standards.
  • To advise on quality outcomes, providing clear professional feedback to advisers with adequate rationale.
  • To advise concise feedback on outcomes achieved and where quality can be improved to develop advisers to achieve better client outcomes and file quality documentation.
  • To operate collaboratively with colleagues to improve overall quality outcomes and provide consistent feedback.
  • Build a rapport with the advisers within the firm and other Compliance Departments to ensure that good relationships are maintained.
  • Contribute into the design and implementation of quality standards, identifying any trends and proposing resolutions to achieve the required standards.
  • Achievement of individual productivity targets and objectives.
  • To prepare reporting on quality assurance activities.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Relevant professional qualification (CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or suitable alternative at Level 4 or above) is essential for the role or could be achieved within 6 months.
  • Detailed knowledge of assessing suitability of advice outcomes, ideally from working in a compliance function.
  • Detailed knowledge of Pension and Investment products is essential to the role.
  • Working knowledge of Risk, Compliance and Advice in UK financial services.
  • Some experience of Financial Services regulation, in particular in the context of suitability would be an advantage
  • Experience with Mortgage, Protection and Later Life products would be an advantage.
