Job Description:
Venator is currently recruiting for a Scheduler to join our Central Planning team.


The overall purpose of the Scheduler is to ensure that all the engineering work required to maintain and improve a production area is resourced and scheduled in the most effective manner to maximise uptime and reliability at target cost.


Job responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate the outstanding backlog of work and consult with plant team management on priorities to be scheduled.
  • Establish the status of tasks required to be scheduled and ensure that the resources required to perform the work are available and expedite those that are not.
  • Prepare draft and final plans for review and approval by the plant engineering and operations teams.
  • Produce schedules for plant outages, maintenance, reliability and any other required engineering work. Carry out identification of critical path activities and detailed analysis of those activities.
  • Work with relevant engineering and production / technical personnel to refine / reduce critical path plans.
  • Coordinate all the resources and services required to complete the tasks contained within the plan.
  • Maintain a forward view of statutory routines, shutdowns and any other planned activities and ensure that these are scheduled and completed before the due date.
  • Produce information and KPIs to reflect work management performance and advise the plant team on remedial measures where necessary.
  • Distribute planned work schedules to the operating teams and liaise closely with permit issuers and production specialists to ensure that SSOW and operational requirements are reflected in the plans.
  • Report on progress and present options for resolving issues that threaten the planned duration of the engineering work.
  • Coach operating and maintenance team members on the reporting requirements necessary for effective monitoring of progress.
  • Review actual performance against plan and implement improvements where deviations are highlighted.
  • Live and demonstrate behaviours that drive a positive valuesbased culture.

Job-Related work experience, Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

  • HNC qualification with a recognised trade qualification and / or experience in planning/scheduling.
  • Must have an appreciation of work at trades level to understand the parameters to be applied in the scheduling process.
  • Experience in operating in a high hazard (petro) chemical production environment is required.
  • Significant experience of using SAP PM planning and supporting systems. Ideally a working knowledge of Primavera.
  • A good working knowledge of pressure system inspections and instrumented trip testing requirements is advantageous.
